 Distinctions are earned by

legions over the course of their service as a reward or burden for notable battles, sieges, and other actions, serving as a marker of its past deeds, glories, and disgraces and permanently marking the legion with various bonuses or maluses going forward. Distinctions can either be honors, which are rewarded for actions such as battling in dangerous terrain and weather, defeating barbarians, or capturing important

cities, or dishonors, which are given for more disgraceful actions such as sacking a

holy site, rampant looting, or revolting during a

civil war. There is no limit on the number of distinctions that a legion can get, and once a legions gets a distinction, it will carry that distinction for the rest of the game (except for the

 Pia and

Impia distinction), unless the legion itself is completely destroyed (by losing all territories in the governorship) and then recreated.

All distinctions, except for the default

Legion Dedication honour, require the Heirs of Alexander DLC.
